"That's my job, that's what I do
Everything I do is because of you
To keep you safe with me ...
That's my job, you see."
As I was driving home the other night this old Conway Twitty song came on (grandma would be so proud!) and the chorus says everything just right. I know my parents have made so many sacrifices for my brother and me and I finally somewhat understood. I was talking to my mom about my gymnastics and the expense and long drives it brought them. I know that I felt bad sometimes that they had to make the hour + drive round-trip 6 days a week, watch me in pain, and only to spend 30 minutes with me a night. But, I now know that they would not have had it any other way. What I loved, is what they loved. Even in college they sacrificed days off work and the money to go to Florida for my cheer nationals. I would ask them about it lots of time and they would ALWAYS say "that is why we work".
It is not easy leaving Lana during the week and by the time Friday is here I am more than ready for it to be over, but I do it for her. I do it so I can provide her the life I want to give her. Now, my job here lately has not been the best. I don't really enjoy it and I am looking forward to transfering to a different group at the beginning of next year. But, I can do this and I am thankful for my job.
"EVERYTHING I do is because of you...That's my job, you see"
