The days before coming a family of 5

This is the first of a long over due blog update!

I am 39 weeks pregnant and it is my last day of work before maternity leave.  I just gave a large presentation to everyone in my field of study at work the day before and I am so ready to be off work with my babies.

That was a Wednesday.  Jayson calls to tell me that he is not feeling good.  I make him go to the doctor to get checked for strep throat with the baby coming so soon and I wanted to try to get him to feeling ok.  They put him on some antibiotics.  Thursday, Lana wakes up not feeling good.  This was the start of our long almost 2 weeks of sickness and the baby coming for sure in 6 days!  Jayson was working and I am on my own 3 out of the next 5 days with 2 sick kids and the baby coming anytime.

I take Lana to the doctor Thursday and I do my best at keeping her comfortable. Saturday Grayson wakes up with it.  Now he is my challenge and does not sleep well when he is sick.  I am not sure how much tylenol, advil, cough medicine, and kleenex we went through but it was a lot!  Lots of medicine and little sleep.  I take Grayson to the doctor Monday after doing all my pre-op stuff at the hospital.  Lana's had turned into a ear infection and Grayson had double ear infections.  Did I mention, the baby is for sure coming the next day and Jayson is working.  It was a rough few days, but we made it through.

I hated leaving my babies not feeling good and knowing I could not take care of them.  I had 2 sheets of instructions and a medicine sheet for them to follow.  Thanks to my parents and Donna, they were taken care of and probably spoiled them more than I would have!  I know this for sure when mom tells me that Grayson had cookies for dinner since that was the only thing he would eat. Ha!

I actually ended up getting sick the day before the scheduled c-section and felt pretty cruddy along with having the baby for a few days.  I am glad I stayed 3 nights in the hospital to try to rest as much as I could.  I sent Jayson home to stay with them the third night.  On his way to get me the next day, he says his throat is worse so another doctor trip is ordered.  He goes to the doctor on his way to bring me home from the hospital.  Countless doctors, coughs, and taking temperatures later, I was finally on my way home.

It was not what I planned on doing right before having the new baby, but I did get lots of snuggles with Lana and Grayson.  Birth story coming next!
